   The Boy Who Loves Birds

   Kate
   21:46h

On his birthday, we gave Barney a clear plastic birdfeeder that sticks by suction cups to the window. He filled it with sunflower seeds, but it was almost two months before the local chickadees got brave enough to visit it regularly. Now they fight each other for access to it and we watch them, delighted, from our kitchen window. You can sit six inches away from them and they are not fazed. There are woodpeckers that collect snacks from it, too. They are a bit more nervous.
