Happy Birthday #1 Son
Kate
15:37h
Last Saturday morning in the city, Farmbeau and I were up and ready to move after coffee, so we left Petra sleeping and went out and around her immediate neighbourhood in search of garage sales. There were about six and we went to them all and a few besides.
Ah yes, the saling was a great success. I would not rather be sailing! ======================================= We are celebrating Don’s 15th birthday today. First thing this morning, he came down to where I was still asleep and said “Do I look bigger now, Mom?” “Um -- well, you look bigger than you did last year on your birthday.” “Yeah, I’m bigger!” he said, and went out to the living room to sit on the couch and look at the Don Ross CD cover. Again. ====================================== We watched Frida last night. Now there is a good movie. I am partial to biographical stories, but even so, this one was beautifully put together. We even got to look at the pretty Antonio Banderas for a few moments while he appeared in a cameo. Ashley Judd did a Spanish accent very unconvincingly and looked like her bones were about to pop through the skin of her back, but it was a treat to see her too, as always. Alfred Molina created a whole different person, as he does in every movie he is in -- it’s amazing, really, what that actor can do. And Salma Hayek brought the fiery character of Frida Kahlo to life for me, stimulating my interest in the woman and her art.
