Here's a photo of Don (cerebral palsy is the reason for the crutches) this fall, heading home from his self-imposed pig-feeding duties. Before the snow fell, he went out there and spent hours each day painstakingly pulling quackgrass and throwing it into the pigpen. It's not easy to bend down with those crutches (with the snow now, he uses a walker for safety), but he does it somehow.

There's not a lot he can do, given his lack of independent balance, but he's taken up supplementing the pigs' diet with some gusto.

I am lovin’ this new life. I think I finally feel well rested, and as if perhaps life is not all just running to meet schedules. Once again, with this move here, my New Year’s Wish has been granted. So far, they always have been, which is better than I can say for the days when I used to make NY’s resolutions and promptly forget about them. I wonder what I’ll ask for in 2003.
