The boys and I went over to Mom and Dad's yesterday afternoon for several hours. Mom was up and around, planning quilting projects, and managed to interest Everett in starting a wall hanging himself. The photo above shows her giving him his first lesson in embroidery.

Then she and I sat in the TV room and watched De-Lovely, the new Cole Porter bio starring Kevin Kline; Mom is a big fan of his and likes him in everything he does. We both loved the music; this is the second time I've seen the movie. She stitched on a quilt she is making and I worked on squares for mine, as we watched.

We have managed to line up a hypnotherapist willing to come to the house and work with her and I. The hope is that hypnosis will help manage both the pain, which the methadone and other medications still aren't doing adequately, and anxiety.

We're heading across the bridge in a couple hours to visit with our friend from Mexico, who lived above us in the last house. Her husband is in Vancouver and won't be home till Thursday, but yesterday their van crapped out on her and won't start. So S will take a look at it and we'll see what we can do to help her get around and get repairs done.

Mom has a lovely set of Princess Anne dishes that she is considering selling. Lately they've started using them, after keeping them pristinely in a china cabinet for however many years it's been, and she doesn't think they'll hold up to daily use. So maybe, she says, they will sell them instead and buy themselves a daily-use set of dishes. I am to check out how ebay works.

Been meaning to do that anyway. I have a book written and autographed by singer-songwriter Harry Chapin back in 1977 or so, and am interested in finding out if his fans might like to add it to their collections.
