5:38 pm It seems as if a lot has been accomplished today. Between Barney and I, we’ve made a batch of bread, two dozen muffins, and some rice krispie cake. I made potato soup at lunchtime, with my frozen workman in mind. I’ve done dishes three times if not four, so the counters are clear of the clutter that I dislike so, and covered with baking instead. I’ve even carried in a few armloads of wood and filled the stacking ring. You can tell if I’ve filled it or if Sweetiepie has. He lines up the sticks of wood so that they form an even vertical surface in front. Or am I imagining that? Perhaps. It occurred to me today when I noticed the ends of the wood jutting out at different lengths. Now, it’s suppertime and I have had my fill of cooking and cleaning. I told Sweetiepie that too, but he didn’t offer to make supper. He took the water jug and went to town for a few groceries and water instead. Maybe after a little break to sit and write I’ll feel more like doing the penultimate evening duty; the last being the frickin’ dishes, one more time. This morning I called Suzanne in Saskatoon. She and Biff were with his bereaved friend and the friend’s kids, in a car on their way somewhere. I asked how the funeral went on Saturday. She said it was very nice. “Healing, actually,” she added. “I’ve changed my mind about funerals because of it.” ... Link |
