We go to the doctor to get him to sign the medical history part of Don’s application for summer camp, and when we get back into the van and are buckling up, I say, “Well, that was painless enough, wasn’t it?”

Don says, “Yes!” He almost always agrees with me. “What does ‘painless’ mean?”

“It means something doesn’t hurt,” I answer, and we drive out of the parking lot.
