Once when I lived out in the boonies and wanted to get a job and there weren't many to be had, I did an automatic writing exercise to talk with my spiritual guides and get their advice. I was told to get up each morning and wash, dress, eat and behave exactly as if I had to leave for a job by a certain time. If I did that, I would have a job within a week.

It was a concrete sort of advice, the kind you could try to prove wrong, and that's exactly what I did. And sure enough, I had been offered a job before the week was out.
